Long-time pal of U2 Dave Fanning has joked about the amount of people who have been asking him if he has any spare tickets for the band's upcoming shows in Dublin and Belfast. Meanwhile, The Edge says last-minute tickets for the concerts may be available.

Speaking to Hot Press magazine, who were also early champions of the band, Fanning joked, "You wouldn't believe the amount of people ringing me as though I have tickets coming out of my arse. I'm not putting the gig on! I'm not Bono, it's nothing to do with me, so f*** off!"

Also speaking to Hot Press, U2 guitarist The Edge has told fans to watch out for last-minute extra tickets for the band's sell-out Irish shows in Ireland.

“We always hold back a few tickets as we’re not sure exactly where our `seat-kills' are going to be, because the production is such a novel approach that no-one actually knows ahead of time, until the production goes up, where are the seats that have to be killed because of sight line problems,” he said.

“We are always conservative on that. Once the production is locked in, in a venue, then we can release the tickets. So there has been, from time to time, a few last minute releases.”

A small number of extra tickets were made available last week for the band's two shows in Belfast's SSE Arena this Wednesday and Thursday.
