TEN’S TV picks for Wednesday November 11

The final episode of Downton Abbey (9.00pm, TV3) was screened by ITV on Sunday night, and was watched by an average of 8.4 million viewers. Mighty popular and will be missed, but there is the Christmas special to look forward to. The Nation’s Favourite Beatles Number One (8.00pm, UTV Ireland) features what it says on the tin with contributions from Abba’ s Björn Ulvaeus, Sandie Shaw, Jake Bugg, George Ezra, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jools Holland and Manfred Mann’s Paul Jones. Peep Show (10.00pm, Channel 4) returns for a final series.

Downton Abbey, 9.00pm, TV3

The final episode screened on ITV on Sunday night and was watched by an average of 8.4 million viewers. Viewing peaked at 9.2 million at the start of the extended 95-minute episode at  9.00pm with 8.5 million seeing it through to the end. Although billed as the final episode, there will be a Christmas special. The series, which began in 2010, has been a successful export to lots of countries. Ratings, however, had dropped over the course of the sixth series, although Sunday night's episode was the highest viewed since November 2013.

The Nation’s Favourite Beatles Number One, 8.00pm, UTV Ireland

This interesting curiosity tells the stories behind some of the greatest Beatles songs, 27 tracks that reached number one in the UK and in the USA, from She Loves You to Let it Be. Musicians and friends and celebrity fans take part, including Abba’ s Björn Ulvaeus, Sandie Shaw, Jake Bugg, George Ezra, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jools Holland and Manfred Mann’s Paul Jones.

Peep Show, 10.00pm, Channel 4

In the award-winning sitcom, David Mitchell and Robert Webb play two dysfunctional flatmates who revealed all their inner thoughts, whether dark, stupid or embarrassing, or occasionally, all three. Now after a few years break, it's back for a final, six-part series. In the opening episode, entitled The William Morris Years, time has not healed the rift between former friends Mark and Jeremy. When Jeremy has to ask for a loan, Mark sees his chance for revenge. Next week, Mark and Jeremy are reunited in the flat, while Super Hans prepares for his wedding day, putting Mark under pressure as his best man. But there's a perk - Dobby will be there.
