Willem Dafoe will reunite with Nicolas Cage in director Paul Schrader's crime thriller Dog Eat Dog. The actors previously worked together on David Lynch’s Wild At Heart.
Schrader (The Canyons, Taxi Driver), who recently worked on the thriller Dying of the Light with Cage, which both director and actor disowned after it was taken away by producers during post-production, has begun shooting the film in Cleveland, from a script he and Matt Wilder have adapted from Eddie Bunker's book of the same name, according to Empire.
The plot centres on three criminals who are hired to carry out a kidnapping, but face going on the run in Los Angeles when it all goes wrong.
"We're doing something bold here in Cleveland and I wanted to get away from the generic Nic Cage artwork of the past several years," 69-year-old Schrader said.
“The addition of Willem Dafoe to Dog Eat Dog perfectly rounds out the cast and adds a brilliant mix of dark comedy and truthful raw acting that only Mr. Dafoe can bring to the table,” producer Mark Earl Burman added.
Dog Eat Dog is scheduled to be released next year.
