Oscar winner Halle Berry and her husband, Olivier Martinez, have issued a statement announcing that they are to divorce after two years of marriage.
Berry has filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and is said to want a quick separation, with an amicable plan drawn up for custody of their son.
In a joint statement, Berry and Martinez confirmed that their marriage was over.
"It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son.
"We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children’s privacy, as we go through this difficult period."
Berry and Martinez met on the set of the movie, Dark Tide, and in July 2013, they married in his native France. Three months later they welcomed a baby boy, called Maceo.
Berry already has a seven year old daughter, Nahla with former partner, model Gabriel Aubry. Three years ago, Martinez was treated at a Los Angeles hospital after being injured following a violent row with Aubry on Thanksgiving Day. After the incident the couple secured a restraining order against Berry's ex.
Martinez previously dated Aussie pop-princess Kylie Minogue for five years until the pair split up in 2007.
