Noel Gallagher joined U2 on stage last night at the second of the band's shows in London's 02 Arena for a cover version of The Beatles' All You Need Is Love.

The former Oasis frontman also returned to the stage for the final encore of the night, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.

"I'd like to bring out of one my heroes, one of the band's heroes to help us out with this next song. Will you welcome to the stage the high flying bird himself Noel Gallagher," Bono said as Noel joined the band.

NME reports that Bono also invited two brothers from the audience on to the stage and handed them both acoustic guitars to sing Angel Of Harlem.

The U2 frontman also made references to the migration crisis in Europe throughout the show with projections of refugees on the band's giant LED screen during Bullet The Blue Sky

"What do you want, a Europe with its heart open or its borders closed to mercy? I know what I want a place called home," he said.

Later he added: "Think of an island close to here where we have peace. Sing for the peacemakers of Ireland and transfer that wherever you want. For me tonight that is Syria."
