Hardy Bucks star Chris Tordoff said he thinks Adele would find his spoof of her new music video Hello funny and said there are lots of surprises in store in the new series of Hardy Bucks Ride Again.
Adele delighted her fans with the release of a stunning new video for her comeback track on Friday which sees her making a series of unanswered phone calls to a former flame and Tordoff, who plays Francis 'The Viper' Higgins on the popular comedy show, told TEN he thought it would be funny to show us what might be happening on the other end of the emotional call.
"I thought I'd click on it and give it a listen as it had 30 million views at the time (it's on over 85 million now and growing). She says 'Hello? Can you hear me now?' throughout the song and you don't really know who she is talking to. You can see a lad in the video but you've no idea what his side of the story is - so I thought I would have a laugh and give him a voice," he said.
"I was very surprised with the reaction and the amount of people that have watched my video so far. I didn't think it would take off. I thought it would be a bit of fun on Facebook and then when I saw it explode on Facebook I put it on YouTube and it did something like 700,000 views in a day," Tordoff added.
When asked if he thinks the 27-year-old singer would be annoyed with him for dubbing over her new video, Tordoff said: "I think Adele would find it funny because she seems really down to earth but then her record company probably wouldn't. At the same time it's still promoting her work."
Tordoff said that Hardy Bucks fans have loads to look forward to in series 3 of Hardy Bucks Ride Again, saying: "There's new characters in it and a new cast and The Viper has a new vaping shop. Eddie Durkan has a new love life and loads of cool stuff happens in it," he said.
Chris admitted that fans often don't believe he is 'The Viper' when they see him in public and said when they eventually believe him they are often left disappointed.
"First off they don't ever realise that I am him - they often think I am pretending or lying. Then I just have to do The Viper's voice and then they start to come around to believing me - but they are often left disappointed because I'm nothing like my character," he added.
The Hardy Bucks are on RTÉ 2 on Mondays at 9.30
