Strictly Come Dancing
6.35pm BBC One
Daniel no longer trips the light fantastic every Saturday night on the telly, to the disappointment of his many Irish fans, but it has to be said the Kincasslagh man took defeat in his stride with admirable good humour and the usual calm, preferring to acknowledge how much he had learned about dancing during his time on Strictly – the guy sees the positive side, in other words. The 12 remaining dancing duos take to the floor tonight in a bid to impress Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman return to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom this weekend, as the battle for the glitter ball trophy continues.
The Jonathan Ross Show
10.25pm UTV Ireland
Martin Clunes - pictured in the role - joins the host to discuss the latest series of long-running drama Doc Martin, and actor Nick Frost, star of films including Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End, talks about the release of his autobiography, Truths, Half Truths & Little White Lies. Plus, ballet legend Darcey Bussell gives her thoughts on how the new series of Strictly Come Dancing is progressing from her viewpoint as one of the judges, and there is music by John Newman, who will perform a track from his second studio album Revolve.
James May’s Cars of the People
8.00pm RTÉ 2
In his quest to discover how we, the people, got our wheels, James travels to Germany, Italy and Russia to reveal the extraordinary story of how dictators kick-started the mobilisation of the masses. It is a tale of design brilliance, abject failure, war, fraud and double dealing, featuring some of the best (and worst) cars and characters of the 20th century. James discovers how the British motor industry blew a gift-wrapped chance to rule the world and he gets his own back with a stunt that means bad news for one of the planet's most hated cars. The first of a three-part series made for the BBC.
