Ronan Keating has said that One Direction should take a break from the music industry so they can come back refreshed.

Speaking to TEN on the IFTAs red carpet, the Dublin native spoke about the boyband's last minute decision to cancel their Belfast gig earlier this week. "I heard Liam [Payne] wasn't well and they had to cancel the show," Keating said. "I hope he's ok. I understand the pressures of being in a band and I hope he gets back on his feet."

The former Boyzone star also gave some advice to 1D: "All of the lads should just take some time for themselves, I don't think they should break up, I think they should just take some time - a couple of weeks or a couple of months - and come back refreshed because they'll realise they'll miss it when they take a break from it all. They'll miss each other."

The singer wed Australian TV producer Storm Uechtrirz wed in Edinburgh last August, and Keating said married life is treating him well; "[I'm] living the dream, it's fantastic".

He also promised fans that they don't have long to wait until another Boyzone reunion, saying: "Boyzone will be back together in 2017 for a 25 year project, so it won't be long 'til we're back".
