A book based on Michael Jackson's last days before his death in 2009 is to be made into a TV drama.
Tavis Smiley's Before You Judge Me: The Triumph And Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days, a biography that imagines Jackson’s final few weeks, has been picked up by Warner Bros.
The book, which is due to be published next year, follows the final 16 weeks of the singer’s life and zones in on the planning stages of Jackson’s comeback This Is It concert series, which was set to begin with 50 dates at London’s O2 Arena.
Jackson died after going into cardiac arrest in LA on June 25, 2009, 18 days before the opening performance.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the series about Jackson is the first part of a bigger deal between Smiley, who hosts a late-night talk show on PBS in the US, and Warner Bros.
Smiley’s memoir, My Journey With Maya, which details the author’s long friendship with poet Maya Angelou, is also being made into a TV series.
