The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara has revealed her disappointment with the gender imbalance in Hollywood salaries.
Speaking to The Guardian, the actress said that she had been in films where her male co-star got paid double what she got paid. “To me, it’s frustrating, but at the same time, I’m just grateful to be getting paid at all for what I do.”
Mara, currently promoting the drama, Carol, which is predicted to shine at next year’s Oscars, sees the discussion about Hollywood pay in a wider context. “I think about how much teachers are getting paid, or other people who are doing jobs that are so much more important than what I do, and it’s kind of hard to complain about it,” she said.
