Dublin actress Eve Hewson has been cast as Maid Marian in the upcoming big screen adventure Robin Hood: Origins, with Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton in negotiations to play the folk hero.
US industry website Deadline.com, which broke the news of Hewson's casting, says that over 100 young stars were considered for the Maid Marian role, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Belle), Lucy Fry (Vampire Academy) and Gaite Jansen (Supernova).
The film is due to go into production next summer with Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst behind the lens. Leonardo DiCaprio is among the producers through his company, Appian Way.
Hewson, the daughter of Bono and Ali Hewson, will next be seen in cinemas in the Tom Hanks-starring Cold War thriller Bridge of Spies. It opens on November 27.
Her other credits include The Knick, Enough Said and This Must Be the Place.
