The Blades cut to the quick with another new song

The Blades
The Blades

Classic Dublin band The Blades released their first new music in thirty years yesterday and today they're really spoiling us with another new song from their new four-track EP, Smalltime.

The latest track is Harder Times and you can hear it on The Blades' bandcamp page now.

The EP will be out on November 6 and will be available on CD and all the usual streaming/download sites.

The full track-listing for Smalltime, which was produced by the band's frontman Paul Cleary and producer Pat Dunne, is Harder TimesAll Fall Down and I Still Believe In You.

The Blades are widely considering one of the greatest bands to have emerged from Ireland, with three of their songs, Ghost of a Chance, Downmarket, and The Bride Wore White, all featured in an RTÉ poll of best Irish songs of all time..

They formed in 1977 in the Dublin neighbourhood of Ringsend, with Paul Cleary on bass and vocals, his brother Lar on guitar and mutual friend Pat Larkin on drums.

After the break-up in the mid-eighties, Cleary formed The Partisans and later led an eight-piece pub rock band, The Cajun Kings. He released a solo album, Crooked Town, in 2002.

The Blades reformed in 2013 and have played reunion gigs in Dublin's Olympia Theatre and at last year's Electric Picnic.

The Blades will also play Dublin's Olympia Theatre on December 5.
