After a decade of managing comedian husband Tommy, Yvonne is stepping into the spotlight to host an online women's chat show called The Couchwhich she says makes for a nice break from being at home 99% of the time.

The Rathfarmham-born mum of three, who married Tommy in August 2009 in County Monaghan, said she is embracing her new presenting gig and admitted it is nice to be doing her own thing.

"I've always been someone who is doing seven different things at once. I love multitasking. I get more bothered when there isn't a lot going on - having said that I am at home 99% of the time," she told TEN.

Speaking about managing her hubby for years, Yvonne said that while she looked after the business side of things, she can't take credit for his success.

"Tommy kind of managed himself. I don't want to be seen to be taking credit for his success - but I ran the business side of things and mostly from home for those few years and it worked for us. It's nice to have a break from that too for us and not to always talk about work," she added.

43-year-old Yvonne said that her new project came about organically and admitted that the whole process has been surprisingly easy.

"For me it felt like the right time to focus on this. It's all been very organic and easy - surprisingly easy. For the first series it was very important to have some very established names from a cross-platform. Jo Malone is a business woman but also a mum. There are loads of women who are successful but they are all just women talking about ordinary stuff.

"I'm just as interested in talking to a nun from an enclosed order or a teacher on Inisheer. It's just life stories so whatever format that carries on in I'm interested in it. It gets me out of the house," she laughed.

"I love being paid to talk and sharing people's life experiences. I'm very comfortable with hearing someone talk about a very difficult part of their life that may bring a tear to their eye, and equally, I love hearing people laugh and sharing happy stories," she added.

Over the course of the six-part series Yvonne will chat to Jo Malone, comedian writer and actress Sharon Horgan, singer/songwriter Eddi Reader, broadcaster and journalist Maia Dunphy, hotelier and trustee of the Castle Leslie Estate Sammy Leslie, broadcaster and actress Bláithnaid Ní Chofaigh and model and agent Celia Holman Lee.

The Couch is Produced by David Power and directed by Anna Rodgers with Yvonne Tiernan as Executive Producer and can be found on Mondays exclusively on the RTÉ Player.
