U2 launch a revival of 90s chat show TFI Friday on Channel 4 this Friday night with host Chris Evans saying he is "over the moon" that the band is coming. Actress Saoirse Ronan will also be in attendance.

"It wouldn't be the first episode of TFI without one of the biggest bands in the world, if not the biggest," said Evans.

"They're coming in specially, flying straight from a show in Antwerp and straight back to Cologne, making the time just for us, and we certainly plan to make the most of it," he added.

U2 will perform two songs on the night; they previously appeared on the show live from Dublin on St Patrick's Day in 2000.

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan will also be dropping in for a chat, no doubt to talk about her role in Brooklyn, the film adaptation of Colm Tóibín's critically acclaimed novel.

Steve Coogan will also be on hand to entertain on Friday night, while there's plenty more music from Take That and Slaves.

After a comeback special earlier this year, Evans has said this will be his final season of TFI Friday, as his schedule will be too full with the new Top Gear.

TFI Friday is on Friday at 8pm and is scheduled to run for 10 weeks.
