Daniel O'Donnell has said he would love to record an album in Irish after Strictly Come Dancing even though he only has a cúpla focail.

The Donegal crooner, who is currently competing on the BBC dance competition with his professional partner Kristina Rihanoff, said he enjoyed singing some of his hit tracks for his country music show Opry an Iuir on TG4 so much that he would love to record a whole album in Irish.

"It was very enjoyable to sing them in Irish. Hopefully if the show continues and I get the opportunity, I would love to do a bit more. I would love to do a whole album where you would have all the songs in Irish on it," he told The Irish Daily Star.

O'Donnell recently told Anton Savage on Today FM he is enjoying his time on Strictly but said he finds the live shows "nerve-racking".

"I would always have nerves going on stage but not like this. I thought I was going to die, I couldn't breathe," he said.

"You really have to stay focused in the moment of what you're doing and try to figure out what the next step is. You have to be mindful too that we only have four days to learn each dance."

Daniel will be taking on John Travolta this weekend on the show's movie-themed special, when he will play Danny Zuko from Grease.

Opry an Iuir airs at 10.30pm on Wednesdays on TG4 and is repeated at 7.15pm on Saturdays.

You can catch Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday, October 10, at 6.20pm on BBC One.
