UTV Ireland and Newstalk FM broadcaster Chris Donoghue will go from news anchor to investigator when he leaves UTV Ireland's flagship current affairs show Ireland Live News in December and joins the station's new documentary series, Insight.

Donoghue also works as a presenter on Newstalk's breakfast show and the early starts and late nights meant punishing 19-hour working days.

Donoghue said: “Last week I resigned from Ireland Live News on UTV Ireland. I have been working across 19-hour days now for a year and something had to give. However, I’m happy about the subsequent offer of the Insight programme from management at UTV Ireland."

Mary Curtis, Head of Channel at UTV Ireland, said: "Chris will work with UTV Ireland on our new documentary series, Insight, a series of special programmes produced by the Ireland Live News team.

“We fully understand Chris’s decision and we are delighted to be continuing our relationship with such an exceptional journalist and broadcaster,” she said.
