Ed Sheeran wants to become a ordained minister so he can officiate at the forthcoming wedding of Friends star Courteney Cox and Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid, according to reports.

Sheeran will perform at the ceremony but now he also wants to wed the happy couple according to The Daily Star, who quote a source as saying, "[Ed] had already agreed to perform a couple of ballads after they exchange vows, so it seemed logical to him that he should get them hitched too."

"He’s bursting with pride to have played matchmaker to Johnny and Court and he’s told them he’s up for anything that will help make their special day truly memorable."

McDaid and Cox became engaged in June last after being introduced by Sheeran when he and McDaid were staying in Cox's pool house during the recording of Sheeran's second album x.
