Actor Nicholas Brendon, best known for playing Xander Harris on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, has been arrested for allegedly choking his girlfriend in a hotel room.
Brendon has also been charged with robbery, criminal mischief and obstruction of breathing.
According to police his girlfriend had gone to a hotel on Wednesday night to return property to Brendon and told him she intended to leave. But Brendon objected, grabbed her car keys and then threw her phone into the street when she tried to call for help.
“It sounds like it went downhill from there,” said police Lt Bob Jillson. “He allegedly grabbed her by the throat and started choking her.”
Brendon left the hotel before police could arrive, but was arrested a short time later.

It's not Brendon's first run in with the law. Before this week's incident he had already been arrested three times this year, with charges ranging from public intoxication to property damage.
Back in June the actor who has also starred in Criminal Minds and Without a Trace, announced on his social media pages that he had entered a treatment programme.
