RTÉ home-produced and commissioned programmes dominate the nominations for the 2015 IFTA (Irish Film and Television Academy) Gala Television Awards, which were revealed this morning
RTÉ has received over fifty nominations across the majority of categories with nods for popular shows such as Mrs Browns Boys, The Imelda May Show and The Voice of Ireland.

Commenting on RTÉ's impressive list of nominations a spokesperson said: “We are delighted to hear RTÉ has received over 50 nominations across all its television channels - RTÉ One, RTÉ2 and RTÉjr.
"The range of nominees reflects the wide breath of programming RTÉ television produces across all genres - from news and current affairs, factual, comedy, drama and sport to entertainment and young people’s. Congratulations to all the nominees.”

TV3's Red Rock is the leading soap with an impressive seven nominations, ahead of Fair City which has four. However fans of Ros na Rún will be disappointed after it failed to receive any nominations.

Chris O'Dowd's Moone Boy on Sky 1 is the most nominated comedy. Other comedy programmes to receive nods include Mrs Browns Boys, The Savage Eye and Irish Pictorial Weekly.

RTÉ dominates the factual category with nods for Lords and Ladles and Nationwide's Fr. Browne’s Forgotten War among the contenders, while there was also acknowledgement for documentaries such as Man on Bridge and Close to Evil, the story of holocaust survivor Tomi Reichental.

For the first time there's a category for Best Live Event. Coverage of last May's historic Marriage Equality Referendum makes up two of the nominees, including RTÉ's Live Results Coverage and TV3's Vincent Brown in The George show which saw the veteran broadcaster present the results live from Dublin's oldest gay bar.
Next week the Academy will also officially announce the Lifetime Achievement in Comedy Recipient along with details of the IFTA Gala People’s Choice Award.
The ceremony will take place on October 22, with TV3 broadcasting a highlights show on October 25.
