The Ray D'Arcy Show got off to a flying start on Saturday night with an average audience of 468,000 viewers.
The first ever episode of the series earned a 35% share of the television viewing audience. Comedian Tommy Tiernan proved to be a crowd favourite with over half a million people tuning in to see him in action.
A spokesperson for RTÉ said of the viewing figures, "We're delighted with the figures for The Ray D'Arcy Show. The reaction from the studio audience and from viewers at home has been really positive. Tommy Tiernan proved a particular hit on the night with over half a million viewers tuning in to watch the comedian chat to Ray."
The average audience is worked out by taking the number of viewers across a programme or series with viewing measured minute-by-minute, and finding the average across all of these minutes.
To put things into perspective, the series average for the first season of Brendan O'Connor's Saturday Night Show in 2010 was 463,700 - a 34% share. These numbers were based solely on live views however, with viewing statistics now also including VOSDAL (viewed on same day as live) data.
The Ray D'Arcy Show continues on RTÉ One on Saturday nights.
