Benedict Cumberbatch may pay a visit to Albert Square according to EastEnders executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, who has revealed his old school friend has agreed to appear on the soap if his schedule allows.
Oscar nominee Cumberbatch and Treadwell-Collins once co-starred in a school production of William Shakespeare's As You Like It when they were students at Harrow.
"He was the year above me at school and I remember doing the Shakespeare play As You Like It. He was Rosalind and I was Audrey the country wench," Treadwell-Collins said. "I remember afterwards running up to my mum to see if I was any good and she said, 'Yeah, you were fine, but that Benedict is an actor'."
On the chances of the Sherlock star making a cameo in EastEnders he added, "I really want Benedict Cumberbatch to come and do a turn. And he says he'll come and do it, but he is slightly busy."
Cumberbatch is currently starring in a West End production of Hamlet, and can next be seen on the big screen alongside Johnny Depp in Black Mass, which hits cinemas on November 27.
