Eamonn Holmes has revealed that he was once thumped by Rihanna's bodyguard and was forced to retaliate by threatening to break the minder's arm.
The Sky News and This Morning presenter, who last night made a surprise visit to the Celebrity Big Brother house, joined Ryan Tubridy on RTÉ Radio 1 this morning and the pair discussed their worst and favourite celebrity interviews.
55-year-old Holmes revealed that popstar Rihanna was an absolute "nightmare" to deal with.
"I like to speak to people in the green room before the show. I went out and said 'Hello, I'm Eamon'. Then I got a thump on my arm and I looked around and there is this big burly bodyguard. He said, 'If you want to talk to Miss Rihanna you talk to me,' and I said 'I didn't realise you were on the programme'.
Eamon revealed that things with the bodyguard then got quite heated. "He said, 'I'm not on the show,' and I said, 'Exactly, she is so I will talk to her and if you touch my arm again I will break your arm and shove it up your a***. She then came onto the set with a blanket around her and two people practically carrying her."
Holmes also declared that Irish talk shows are the best in the world. "One thing that helps is that they have alcohol on Irish talk shows.
"People have a couple of drinks and it chills them out. Irish talk shows are the best in the world as they are so relaxed."
Speaking about his upcoming appearance on Celebrity Big Brother tonight Holmes said: "I went in for a task last night, which you will see on the show tonight. They have asked me to go in as a housemate loads of time but I wouldn't do it. My wife won't let me. She's afraid of people seeing me in my underwear.
"I find watching it a great wind-down. I am quite addicted. It was like stepping in through a magical door. And they feel like your friends, although I don't think you can be friends with them all."
Holmes appeared to be very excited about chatting to Tubridy, so much so that he even let his phone ring live on air on Sky News Sunrise this morning when contacted by the show's research team. Tubs called him 'a gent' for taking the call!
