David Bowie has recorded a new song, which will feature in the opening credits of an upcoming European crime series, The Last Panthers.
It is the first time Bowie has contributed original music for film or television in twenty years.
“I was looking for one of the icons of my youth to write the music for the title sequence, but was presented with a God, " said director Johan Renick.
"His first response was precise, engaged and curious. The piece of music he laid before us embodied every aspect of our characters and the series itself" Renick says he "still can't fathom what actually happened...”.
The six part series opens with a diamond heist before delving into the dark heart of Europe where a shadowy alliance of gangsters and 'banksters' now rule.
The Last Panthers stars Samantha Morton, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Irish movie In America and acting legend John Hurt.
The series will air in November on Sky Atlantic.
