One Direction's Liam Payne has revealed that he has discussed marriage with his girlfriend Sophia Smith, but they feel they might be too young to tie the knot just yet.
The 22-year-old singer met Smith while they were in secondary school and he told Attitude magazine that he had a crush on her for a long time.
"I didn't actually go out with her at the time [when we were younger]. I used to see her at school and we'd kind of chat," he said. "I asked her sister for her number. She was very shy and didn't give much indication that she liked me, so I just assumed that she wasn't interested, as well as thinking, she was way too hot for me anyway."
Payne described their relationship as "one of those childhood sweetheart stories" before revealing that they have even discussed walking down the aisle together.
"We have talked about marriage, but 22 seems a bit young for us," he said.
"Sophia needs to go off and do what she wants to do. I don't want her to be one of those stay-at-home girlfriends who doesn't really do much."
Liam also revealed to the magazine that he drank heavily to cope with One Direction's workload saying, "I'm not afraid to say that I actually went through a pretty bad (drinking) stage.
He added " And for that time in my life, that was perfect for me. I mean, you're away from home and that can get hard. Also there were a lot of things on my mind and that's what helped me through."
