Former Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is in final negotiations to join Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth in the third film in the Bridget Jones franchise, Bridget Jones's Baby.
News of Dempsey's casting was first reported by US film website Deadline.com, but it says details of his character are unknown.
The film follows the trials and tribulations of Jones (Zellweger) as she enters her 40s.
Sharon Maguire, who directed the first film in the series, Bridget Jones's Diary, is back in the director's chair.
Earlier this summer, some crowd scenes for the film were shot during one of Ed Sheeran's Dublin shows in Croke Park.
