Former X Factor judge Louis Walsh has reportedly been called on to help the flagging ratings on the reality TV show.
Simon Cowell is said to have sought advice from Walsh, who exited the show to make room for new judge Nick Grimshaw.
According to The Sun, Cowell rang up Louis to ask for his help in reviving the show, which has suffered from plummeting ratings for its latest season.
A source told the newspaper: "Simon has called Louis to chat through what hasn’t worked with the show so far this year.
"They remain close friends and Simon respects Louis’s opinion - he was a key factor behind the success of The X Factor.
"He’s staying loyal to Grimmy but Louis very much remains a part of the X Factor family."
One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is also reported to be appearing at the judges’ houses stage.
The X Factor is back this Saturday and Sunday for more auditions.
