Jennifer Maguire is returning to the small screen in the 80’s-tastic series Bridget and Eamon.
Both herself and co-star Bernard O'Shea are promising "plenty of laughs" in the new comedy featuring the quintessential Irish couple which began life as a series of hilarious sketches on Republic of Telly.
Although admitting it was "tough" to develop the characters into a full blown comedy show, they praised the broadcaster for taking the risk with O'Shea saying that "RTÉ is the only show in town" for original scripted comedy.
The pair were speaking at the launch of the new RTÉ2 season schedule today where over 30 new and returning shows were announced plus a whopping 18 brand new documentaries.

Rubberbandits will be giving a unique perspective on the 1916 Rising
Comedy is top of the bill. Alongside Bridget and Eamon, there's The Rubberbandits Guide to 1916 which is promising to give us a unique crash course in Irish history from the Limerick funnymen. Après Match of the Day will revisit the glory days of Irish sport while favourites such as Republic of Telly, Hardy Bucks and The Fear will return with some new faces and characters.

On the documentary front, 2fm DJ Louise McSharry will share her deeply personal journey in F**k Cancer, Nine Stone Lighter follows Jules Coll through her life changing gastric-band surgery; and 2fm Breakfast Republic’s Keith Walsh subjects himself to a gruelling training and nutrition plan in pursuit of the perfect body in The Gun Show.

The Ladies are very much to the forefront of the new schedule with Maia Dunphy, Angela Scanlon and Vogue Williams each hosting a new documentary series.
Maia will be looking at childbirth and the modern Irish emigrant experience, while Angela explores celebrity life for some well-known names including WWE wrestler Sheamus and Katie 'the biggest bitch in Britai' Hopkins who she diplomatically described as being an "interesting" subject.
Vogue meanwhile meets women who defy traditional perceptions of the fairer sex and gets up to all manner of carry-on, including some on screen spanking. Oooer!

Another 'lady' who will be giving a unique perspective on life will be 'national f**king treasure' herself Panti Bliss whose documentary Panti: The Queen of Ireland will be a look back at the last five years of her life but also will according to Panti be about "how Ireland has changed over the past 40 years".
On the international front Vikings, Homeland and CSI are all returning, plus there's also a brand new series Deutschland 83.
