Following the world premiere of Steve Jobs at the Telluride Film Festival in the US this weekend, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has paid tribute to the power of Michael Fassbender's Oscar-tipped portrayal of his late colleague.
Speaking to US film website Deadline.com, Wozniak, who is played by Seth Rogen in the Danny Boyle-directed biopic, said: "I saw a rough cut and I felt like I was actually watching Steve Jobs and the others, not actors playing them. I give full credit to Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin [writer] for getting it so right."
Deadline described Fassbender's performance as "relentless" and a "dazzling display of acting". Its comments were echoed by US trade daily Variety which said while the Kerry actor does not resemble Jobs, he gives "a performance as enthralling and fully sustained as any on his estimable resume".
Steve Jobs opens in Ireland on November 13 and receives its European premiere at the London Film Festival on October 18.
Based on Walter Isaacson's biography of the same name, it is split into three lengthy scenes and is set backstage at three Apple product launches, culminating with the launch of the iMac in 1998.
The film also stars Kate Winslet as former Macintosh marketing chief Joanna Hoffman and Jeff Daniels, who plays former Apple CEO John Sculley.
