Daniel O'Donnell will be paired with Strictly Come Dancing star Kristina Rihanoff on the opening show as BBC bosses are hoping it will prevent any further controversy for the dancer.
Rihanoff has dated two of her former partners on the show, rugby union player Ben Cohen and boxer Joe Calzaghe.
According the Daily Mail both men reportedly left the partners to spend more time with Rihanoff.
In a bid to avoid any more romantic drama, the bosses on Strictly have decided to pair Rihanoff with "wholesome" Daniel O'Donnell.
A BBC insider told the Daily Mirror: "It was thought Daniel was the perfect person to pair with Kristina amid the controversies.
"Going public with Ben this summer has really put her in the spotlight and the BBC doesn’t want to risk looking like its courting drama by pairing her with someone there could be flirtations with."
"Daniel is such a wholesome character, he was deemed the most appropriate partner," the source added.
This year's Strictly couples were supposed to be revealed on tonight's opening show, however the secret was outed on Thursday, after a member of the audience, who observed the couple together in a pre-recorded segment, spilled the beans in an internet forum, the paper claimed.
BBC sources then confirmed the partnership.
Rihanoff is still in a relationship with Cohen, who she partnered on the show in 2013.
O'Donnell has not commented on his partnership yet, but has revealed that he is willing to get a spray tan.
He said: "I suppose I’ll try anything once. I've worn a few jackets with sequins on them through the years. In moderation I'm game.
"I am really looking forward to learning how to dance properly. It's nothing like what we would do when jiving to country music."
