Folk singer Al O'Donnell passes away

Folk singer and musician Al O'Donnell has passed away.

The singer, guitarist and banjo player from Dublin began performing in the 1960s and was a short-lived member of the trad band Sweeney's Men in 1968.

O'Donnell, who worked in the graphics department in RTÉ, went on to record two albums in the 1970s .

He is survived by his wife June and children Ruán, Conor and Melissa.
