Cate Blanchett has been cast as Hollywood legend Lucille Ball in an official biopic that Aaron Sorkin is writing.
According to TheWrap.com the film will chronicle Ball’s 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz, with whom she starred on the classic TV sitcom I Love Lucy.
Ball had two children with Arnaz before they divorced in 1960. She married Gary Morton the following year.
The story of Lucille Ball has been attempted before with two TV movies: 2003's Lucy and 1991's Lucy & Desi.
Best-known for her work on the famed sitcom I Love Lucy, Ball also starred in The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy and Life with Lucy.
Ball died of an abdominal aortic dissection in 1989 at the age of 77.
