Dean Jones, the US actor who starred in light-hearted Disney romps such as That Darn Cat! and The Shaggy DA, has died aged 84.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Jones died on Tuesday, September 1 in LA of complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Jones, who also starred in The Love Bug, the first of a series of movies about a feisty Volkswagen with a mind of its own, had a hugely successful career and grosses from his films exceeded $960 million.
He also appeared in the Disney films The Million Dollar Duck, Snowball Express and Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo and later, in another family movie, Beethoven.
Jones made his Broadway debut in There Was A Little Girl with Jane Fonda in 1960 and his film debut in Somebody Up There Likes Me. He also starred in Jailhouse Rock with Elvis Presley.
