Dr Dre's son Curtis Young has been cast to play his father in a new project about the rise of rapper Snoop Dogg, entitled Dogg Pound 4 Life.
Young missed the opportunity to portray Dre on the big screen in the recently released Straight Outta Compton because his father felt he lacked acting experience, with the role going to Marcus Callender.
Ice Cube's son, O'Shea Jackson Jr, did take on the role of his father for the NWA biopic, however, to rave reviews.
Young told rap website XXLmag.com that Dogg Pound 4 Life will not be a follow-up to Straight Outta Compton, and will instead focus on the careers of Snoop Dogg and his collaborators Kurupt, Nate Dogg, Warren G and Daz Dillinger.
Dillinger, with the blessing of his cousin Snoop, is behind the project, with the star currently seeking a director and funding.

"There's no sequel to Straight Outta Compton. This is the Dogg Pound 4 Life movie. I'm cast to play my father. That is official," Young said. "Right now they're looking for funding. There are talks with 50 Cent and some other people."
He continued, "The script is pretty much done. I can't really speak on the characters, but I just got photos of who's going to be playing who. I'm just really excited to be a part of it."
Dillinger previously revealed that the film would feature Ice Cube, Tupac Shakur, who was killed aged 25 in a drive-by shooting in 1996, and Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight.
