Drake's manager Future the Prince has said that the decision to not allow Drake's performance at Lil Wayne's Lil Weezyana Fest was his decision and that Apple did not threaten Tidal with a lawsuit should his performance have been streamed.
Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Future the Prince commented: "Point blank, 100%. I made a business decision. Apple doesn’t have the power to stop us from being part of a live stream. The only people that have the power to do that are Cash Money and Universal, and they’re our partners."
The statement follows statements to the contrary from Tidal, who were streaming the charitable festival, but blacked out Drake's two song performance, citing interference from Apple, which was believable given the Canadian rapper's $19 million exclusivity deal with Apple Music.
1/2 Apple is interfering with artistry and will not allow this artist to stream. Sorry for Big Brother’s inconvenience.
