Apple Music successfully blocked the live broadcasting of a Drake performance at Lil Wayne's Lil Weezyana Fest after warning Tidal, the festival's broadcaster, that they faced a lawsuit worth up to $20 million dollars if they streamed any of Drake's performance.
US celebrity site Page Six reports that "legal letters have been sent to Tidal warning that Drake cannot appear on the Tidal stream of the festival, either solo or part of a group, and if the warning was ignored, the liabilities could be up to $20 million."
Drake, who has an exclusive deal with Apple Music worth up to $19 million, made a brief appearance at his label boss' festival, which benefited Tha Carter Fund, a fund set up by Lil Wayne for after-school programmes in his native Louisiana.
Tidal, which is part-owned by frequent Drake collaborator Jay-Z, blocked the portion of the performance that featured Drake and hit back at Apple with its notice of the block.
