DJ Tracy Clifford has joined 2fm from Dublin station Spin 1038 and will begin hosting a new afternoon show this September with Rick O'Shea moving to weekends.

Clifford will moves to 2fm from her Spin show, Fully Charged with Ryan and Tracy, and her new programme will follow The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene.

Clifford has worked in all areas of radio since she was a teenager. She trained as a news journalist in college before taking up a job at East Coast FM as a news broadcaster. From there she went on to produce and co-present The Morning Show with Declan Meehan.

She then became Head of News at Spin 1038 before starting on Fully Charged with Ryan and Tracy in 2008. The show became the number two breakfast show in Dublin.

Clifford has also presented and produced a weekly dance show on Spin 1038, The Saturday Night Takeover,  which was extended into a three-hour show after massive jumps in the weekend JNLR figures.

Clifford: Festival fit

Commenting on her new role, Tracy Clifford said: “Growing up, 2fm was always the station on in the car. I actually think that is where my interest and love of radio started at a young age.

"So for me now to say that it's my new radio home is such a surreal but unbelievably exciting moment. It is an honour to follow in the footsteps of my radio heroes. I cannot wait to get cracking.”

Tracy takes over from Rick O'Shea who now moves to a new weekend slot. The Rick O’Shea Show with Cormac Battle will air from 11am-1pm on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Today Rick said “Over the past 14 years, 2fm has become my home and I’m thrilled to be a big part of this new and exciting schedule. The weekends are a brand new adventure for me and the guys and we very much look forward to disrupting your mornings with our usual brand of total nonsense."

2fm will make further schedule announcement in the coming weeks.
