Don't adjust your TV sets. UPC have announced that they are going to change their name to Virgin Media in Ireland as part of a major rebrand expected to take place in the coming weeks.
The company has said that all operations, products and services including television and broadband will move to the new Virgin Media brand.
UPC is owned by US firm Liberty Global, which also owns Virgin Media. The two companies have 27 million customers across 14 countries, while Liberty Global also recently bought TV3 for €87 million.

In a statement today, the founder of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson said "We are delighted to bring the Virgin Media brand to Ireland. We are proud of the way it has revolutionised the UK market, improving customer service, increasing speeds and bringing more choice to our customers. Building on the strong platform in Ireland, I know we will do great things together with Liberty Global and shake up the Irish market even further."
It's expected that new Virgin Media will become a so-called 'quad-play service provider' after UPC last year signed an agreement with Three allowing it to enter the mobile market. It means the company could now offer customers telephone, broadband, television and mobile services, a move which could shake up the Irish home entertainment market in a big way.
