A New Jersey man has been arrested in connection to the disappearance of Rosie O'Donnell's 17-year-old daughter, who was found safe after going missing for a week.

Authorities have confirmed that 25-year-old Steven Sheerer was arrested on Friday night (August 21) at his home in Barnegat, New Jersey and faces charges of child endangerment and distribution of obscenity to a minor. He faces up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted.

O'Donnell's spokesperson Cindi Berger told the AP news agency: "Rosie's concern has been and always will be the health, safety and well-being of her daughter.

"Rosie is profoundly appreciative for the work the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has done and the diligence of the local police."

O'Donnell's daughter Chelsea was reported missing to police in Nyack, New York state on August 11 after failing to return home. 

The 53-year-old comedian and talk show host confirmed that she had been found on Tuesday (August 18) and thanked fans for their support.
