With his US feature debut Sinister 2 opening in cinemas on Friday, Irish director Ciarán Foy is returning to Ireland to make his next thriller, The Shee

Set in 1960s Ireland and written by Foy, The Shee tells the story of a troubled young woman who must confront her demons when she travels to an island.

The film will be made by Irish company Roads Entertainment and the makers of Sinister 2, Blumhouse Productions.

Foy will also serve as producer through his company, Shadow Aspect. Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board is supporting The Shee's development.

The CEO of Roads Entertainment, Alan Maher, developed and co-produced Foy's awarding-winning debut feature Citadel, and produced his award-winning short film The Faeries of Blackheath Woods.

He said: "I am delighted to continue my successful working relationship with Ciarán, which began more than a decade ago, and to collaborate with Blumhouse, the best genre producers in the world.

"The Shee will be a thrilling and unique experience that will further establish Ciarán as one of the brightest talents in the industry."

Watch out for a Sinister 2 interview with Ciarán Foy on RTÉ TEN on Thursday. Sinister 2 tells the story of Dylan and Zach Collins (portrayed by real-life brothers Robert and Dartanian Sloan) and their mother Courtney (Shannyn Sossamon), who experience things that go bump in the night and the evil spirit of Bughuul in their new home.
