The first of Pharrell Williams’ four picture books - which begin with a celebration of childhood inspired by his hit song Happy - is set to be published on September 22.

The initial print run of 250,000 copies of Happy will feature photographs of children from around the world “celebrating what it means to be happy”.

The 41-year-old singer-songwriter has a son, six-year-old Rocket Ayer Williams.

He has won 10 Grammys, including two for Happy, which featured on the soundtrack of Despicable Me 2. The song was also nominated for the Best Song Oscar at The Academy Awards and in September 2014, it became the most downloaded track ever in the UK.

The books will be published by Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Books.
