A new Keith Richards documentary, Under the Influence, will be screened in the new television section of the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Filmmaker Morgan Neville, who won the Best Documentary Oscar for his brilliant film about backup singers called 20 Feet From Stardom directed the film.
This new section in theToronto Film Festival will spotlight six TV shows from around the world, including an Icelandic thriller entitled Trapped and the NBC primetime series, Heroes Reborn
The Richards documentary was made as Richards recorded his first solo record in over 20 years, entitled Crosseyed Heart, which is due for release the same day as the movie. Under the Influence includes interviews, archival material and footage of the Rolling Stones star recording the new music.
The Toronto Film Festival has presented television shows before, but this is the first time it will present a separate section focusing on works only devised for TV.
The shows to be screened are scheduled to run on streaming services like Hulu and Netflix as well as on traditional broadcast networks.
