Mel & Sue, the ITV chat show presented by The Great British Bake Off hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc, has been axed after just one series.
The daytime chat show featured a mix of celebrity guests and cooking, a format similar to the duo's late Nineties Channel 4 series, Light Lunch, which launched their television careers as a double act.
ITV decided to pull the plug on Mel & Sue, which launched in January in the 4pm slot, as it was beaten in the ratings war by the BBC's Antiques Road Trip and Escape to the Country.
By contrast, the duo returned to The Great British Bake Off on BBC last Wednesday for their sixth series at the helm with a record 9.3 million viewers tuning into the show in the UK.
Dermot O'Leary returns to Saturday night TV with The Getaway Car
There was better news though for former ITV and X Factor presenter, Dermot O'Leary, who is return to Saturday-night television with a new BBC driving show.
The Getaway Car will see couples compete in a series of driving challenges that test the limits of their relationship behind the wheel of a car, with only the best getting to face The Stig of Top Gear fame.
The announcement comes less than two weeks after the unveiling of the mega-million Amazon deal for the former Top Gear trio. O'Leary had been mentioned in connection with Top Gear but he ruled himself out before Chris Evans eventually landed the gig.
