Armagh actor Colin Morgan has just landed the lead role in the new BBC One supernatural drama The Living and the Dead.
He will play Nathan Appleby, a young man faced with menacing supernatural phenomena in the six-part series, which is set in 1890s Somerset.
Stonemouth actress Charlotte Spencer will star opposite Morgan as his character's wife, Charlotte.
They will play a brilliant young couple who inherit a farm in Somerset and are trying to embark on a new life together. However, the isolation of their new home and unsettling paranormal activities begin to threaten their marriage and sanities.
Morgan said of his new role: "The Living and the Dead is one of those scripts that you read and are instantly compelled and engaged by. It's intelligent, chilling and engrossing, it's going to be very special and I can't wait to start working on it with the wonderful creative team."
Spencer added: "It's always been a dream of mine to appear in a period drama and they don't come better than this - fantastic, original scripts and, in Charlotte Appleby, a superb character who's strong, passionate and gutsy. Couple this with an incredible director, crew and cast, I can't wait to get started."
Filming on The Living and the Dead has already begun.
