Ahead of its Irish November release, the Michael Fassbender-starring Steve Jobs is to receive its European premiere at the London Film Festival in October.

The film will close the festival on October 18 with Fassbender, co-star Kate Winslet and director Danny Boyle attending the gala screening.

With the Kerry actor portraying the Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs is split into three lengthy scenes. It is set backstage at three Apple product launches, culminating with the launch of the iMac in 1998.

Winslet, who plays former Macintosh marketing chief Joanna Hoffman, has praised the Irish actor's performance and likened the demands placed on him dialogue-wise as being like "Hamlet, times two" due to the long passages of dialogue he had to commit to memory.

The film is based on Walter Isaacson's biography Steve Jobs and has been adapted for the screen by The Newsroom and The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin.

The all-star cast also includes Seth Rogen, who portrays Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Jeff Daniels, who plays former Apple CEO John Sculley.

The New York Film Festival is screening Steve Jobs on October 3, but its world premiere date and location have yet to be announced with the Toronto and Telluride festivals both tipped.

Steve Jobs opens in Irish cinemas on November 13.
