Cilla Black has re-entered the UK Top 40 for the first time since 1974 with her 1964 hit Anyone Who Had a Heart, following her death last Saturday in Spain.

Written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, the re-released song climbed to number 39 in the official UK chart, according to latest sales figures.

The track, which was originally a hit for Dionne Warwick in 1963, has climbed more than 50 places in just 48 hours, with fans buying, streaming and downloading copies following the death of the 72-year-old singer, following a stroke.

If Anyone Who Had a Heart makes this week's Official UK Top 40 when it is announced this Friday, it will be Black’s first UK top 40 entry since 1974’s Baby We Can’t Go Wrong which made Number 36.

Meanwhile, in the album chart, Black’s Very Best Of retrospective climbed a further nine places overnight to number 16, and it is believed that it could be her highest-charting album since 1968’s Sher-oo.

Last night  3.4 million viewers watched the repeat of The One and Only Cilla Black on ITV in the UK and the documentary will be repeated tonight and tomorrow..

Cilla, the acclaimed 2013 drama starring Sheridan Smith as the much-loved singer and TV star, drew 1.3 million viewers when it was repeated on the channel.
