It was a romance that burned as hot and bright as Bogart and Bacall's and Paul and Niamh's from Fair City but the frog and the pig are no more. Miss Piggy and Kermit The Frog have issued a joint statement explaining why their relationship is over.
The news comes on the same day on which singer Gwen Stefani and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale announced their split and Zayn Malik ended his engagement to Perrie Edwards.
Kermit broke the news at the Television Critics Association summer press tour today, August 4, and it has since emerged that the lothario of the lily pad is dating another pig called Denise who 'works in marketing' at ABC television, the makers of the upcoming Muppets mockumentary.
