RTÉ’s Washington Correspondent Caitriona Perry will guest-present a special edition of Nationwide on RTÉ One from the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles on August 17.
The programme goes behind the scenes to witness the experiences of Team Ireland, from preparation to dream fulfilment, in a tournament that yielded 86 Olympic medals for the Irish.
The programme features many of the athletes, including golfer Paul Kirrane from Clare, gymnast Ashleigh O’Hagan from Limerick, runner Rachel Ryan from Tipperary, swimmer Keith Butler from Dublin.
This Nationwide special also features an interview with Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver and Special Olympics Ambassador, Irish footballer Robbie Keane.
