Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been given a six month suspended prison sentence in Sicily, Italy after she was convicted of a 2009 assault on a photographer.
"We are appealing the ruling surrounding the 2009 incident," her attorney Guido Carlo Alleva said in a statement."Due to the ongoing legal process, we cannot discuss the matter further at this time."
The incident in question allegedly occurred when paparazzo Gaetano Di Giovanni was taking snaps of the 45-year-old star with her then-boyfriend Vladimir Doronin while the couple were holidaying in Sicily.
When the photographer continued to follow the pair Campbell reportedly lost her temper and hurled her purse at Di Giovanni, scratching his eye and leaving him in need of medical treatment.
In 2007, Campbell admitted to throwing her Blackberry cellphone at her housekeeper. She served a five-day community service sentence in New York City, paid a fine and completed an anger management course.
