One Direction singer Harry Styles has launched a global charity campaign with a heartfelt video he posted on his Twitter page.

The star posted the video in which he says he "wants to live in a world where every child can go to school" to launch the Action/1D campaign in collaboration with the charity initiative Action/2015.

The boyband are among the high-profile names such as Bono, Richard Branson and Ben Affleck who are supporting the campaign which aims to unite the world into tackling crucial problems such as extreme poverty, inequality and climate change.

Styles says in the video: "I really loved my school days.  When we went to Ghana we met children whose only dream was to get an education.

"At the moment they have to work all day, every day just to earn enough to eat. Going to school could literally change their lives, but for now all they can look forward to is a life of struggle and they deserve so much more."

As part of 1D's campaign, the boyband have asked fans to describe the kind of world they want to live in using video snippets and photos.
