Ed Sheeran has landed a juicy recurring role in the upcoming medieval drama The Bastard Executioner.
The chart-topper will pay Sir Cormac an "ambition and deadly" protégé of a powerful church elder in the FX show.
The series, who is being described as a "blood-soaked epic", will follow a 14th century warrior whose life is transformed when he is persuaded by a divine messenger to lay down his sword and lead the life of a journeyman executioner.
Sheeran confirmed that he was taking on a recurring acting role at the start of the month, but was tight-lipped about what it would entail, only sharing that the show was "really, really dark" and "gruesome".
The show was devised by Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, with whom Sheeran previously collaborated with on a song for the penultimate episode of the biker drama.
The Bastard Executioner, which is currently filming the UK, also stars True Blood's Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal, Lee Jones and Flora Spencer-Longhurst, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
